Come celebrate the opening of three new shows and escape the cold of January with some art! Plus, get a chance to meet the artists themselves. All are welcome! Cash bar. / In the West Gallery / An immigrant from Ghana, Emmanuel Opoku reflects on his diasporic experience in a solo show, We Ourselves are Shared. Opoku's symbolic portraiture and sculptural assemblages take shape from repurposed and transformed everyday objects. / In the Window Gallery / In her series of collaged paintings, Predators and Pray, Jeanette Staley reinterprets the histories of early modern artists and illustrators who wanted to document the natural world. The artist juxtaposes their depictions of animals with religious and political texts, folk tales, and maps of U.S. regions where industry is interlocked with economic inequality and environmental destruction. / In the East Gallery / Artist Shoeboxes allow artists to produce compact installations or highlight a limited number of artworks. This year, three artists will exhibit mini exhibitions of collagraphs, photography, and mixed media assemblage. /Casey Fisher: Anthropocentric Reality: Our Constructed Wasteland /Matthew Kamholtz: On Screen /Luca Nova Webb: Fragmented Reflections: Birth of a Supernova All three shows will be on view from January 18 through February 24, 2024. Regular gallery hours run Thursday through Sunday, 12-5 pm. Parking is available at the Worcester Public Library (McGrath) Lot, Federal Plaza Garage, Worcester Common Garage, and Pearl-Elm Garage. Metered street parking is also available. On weekends, and on weekdays after 5:00 PM, visitors may park in the Printers Building parking lot free of charge. Please do not park in the lot across the street from the Printers Building; you will be immediately towed.
